G O A L S,
Outcomes YOU Create

Setting Goals - or, preferably, stating your desired Outcomes - is an effective technique for personal and business achievement.

Goals, within the context of a MasterMind Group, may or may not developed by a member (although strongly advocated) and may or may not be monitored / reviewed by the Group. Thus this is a difference in degree, not in kind, from coaching.

There are 3 elements necessary for a statement to be a valid Goal Statement. These are:

• A clearly defined, specific and intense, want or desire. (That is, very clear definition of the ACTIONS to be taken to generate / cause the Result (Outcome) desired.

• A statement of the TIME Required for, or the Achievement Date of, the Result.

• The way in which the result - and progress toward it - wiil be MEASURED.

• Perform a REALITY Check; do you, yourself, truly believe you can achieve it (withount relying on others).

• The PROBABILITY of Success must be in line with your abilities ... yet it must not be too high. Get out of - above - your "Comfort Zone".

• Consistency with your PERSONAL VALUES is critical to goal achievement / outcome creation. (Also, of course, be sure it is not mutually exclusive with our goals / outcomes.)

(Inherit in the Action definition is that the result is achieveable; achieveable by you and not dependent on the action or cooperation of others.)

Your challenge is in clearly stating what YOU want or desire.   Layers of self-deception must be peeled away to reach the core desire.

A critical barrier to goal achievement is lack of action.   Action is required for achievement of goals; no amount of “positive thinking” or “wishing really hard” are substitutes for regular, consistent and planned actions.

Finally, you must prioritize the Goals (therefore actions to take).  Stay with the Goal until it is achieved … or it proves to be invalid.  (If invalid, totally eliminate from all future consideration.)

A very important requirement is to WRITE your Goal: An unwritten Goal is only a "wish".
